Frequently asked questions about eyelash extensions...
Q – Are the eyelash extensions safe?
A: Yes, they are completely safe when application is undertaken by a trained professional. The bonding agent is strong but does not touch your skin. The surrounding area is well protected so eliminating any potential eye or skin irritation. The eyes are closed throughout the procedure making the treatment relaxing.
Q – How do I care for my extensions?
A: Care must be taken not to rub eyes, or pull on the extensions. Also any creams, eye makeup removers, lotions, or cleansers containing glycols, urea or organic solvents can loosen the bond; therefore care must be taken ensuring eye cream is applied sparingly with avoidance of the lash line area. An aftercare leaflet is given out to all new clients on their first visit; which explains how to care for your eyelash extensions and make them last to their full potential.
Q – What if I decide against top ups?
A: The eyelash extensions will eventually fall out with your own lashes as they naturally shed.
Q – Can I swim, shower & enjoy a sauna?
A: Yes, you need to avoid water around the eye area for the first 24hrs after having them applied; then you are free to do any of the above without damaging the bond.
Q – Can I wear mascara?
A: You can but you won't need it, your natural eyelashes with be fuller, darker and striking once the extensions have been applied. If you wish to use mascara it can be worn, (water soluble mascara is recommended); however constant use of mascara may shorten the life-span of your lashes. Waterproof mascara is not recommended.
Q – How long do lash extensions last?
A: A full set of lash extensions should last untouched for between 6-8 weeks. However most clients are so delighted with their lashes they want to keep them for longer and therefore I recommend a top up appointment every 3-4 weeks, to keep them looking perfect. For clients who would like to wear them long term, I recommend a fresh set every 3-4 months.
Q – Can I use eye make up?
A: Yes, eye make-up can be applied as normal, however avoid use of waterproof mascara.
Q – Do you have a range of different lashes?
A: Yes I can offer a tailor made look, using a comprehensive range of lashes. Various lengths, thicknesses and curls, coloured and glittered lashes for the party look. I am fully trained in different techniques ranging from classic individual extensions to XD volume lashes, also known as Russian lashes. I can create a look to fit your life style and preference.
Q – Can I use eyelash curlers?
A: Eyelash curlers should not be used as they can damage your natural lashes as well as the extensions.
Q – Will extensions damage my own lashes?
A: No, as long as the extensions are applied by a trained technician, and they are maintained correctly. I take care to use lash lengths and widths that are suitable for your own lashes to carry; to maintain their health and strength. For clients with particularly fine hair I recommend a break from time to time.
